Our pasture raised whole chickens average between 5-8lbs. They are flash frozen to ensure premium freshness and flavour as they make their way to your freezer and dinner table.
For pieced chicken you must order in even numbers as the way it is packed at the butcher, they do 2 chickens together. You are ordering 2 whole chicken - but cut and packaged into pieces.
You'll get:
4 chicken breasts (individually packed)
2 x 2 per package of thighs
2 x 2 per package of drumsticks
4 split wings in 1 package
2 backs and necks in 1 package
Pasture raised whole chickens are perfect for Sunday dinner, a family get together or for cooking and making batch meals for your busy life. Raised here on the farm in Lucknow, Ontario they spend the first weeks of their lives under warm heat lamps in a brooder and once they have feathers we move them outside where they grow on pasture where they can scratch in the grass and eat all the bugs they desire. They have access to certified organic feed and fresh water.
How it works:
We raise three batches of chickens each year. Due to our harsh Canadian winters, chickens can only be raised outside, on pasture, as weather permits. We raise chickens under the Ontario Artisanal Chicken Program.
Our June chicken will be available the week of June 24th, 2024.
Our August chicken will be available the week of August 1st, 2024.
Our September chicken will be available the week of September 9th, 2024.
Pickup/Delivery. You will be billed for the outstanding amount the week of your delivery which will be determined by the next delivery date heading to your area or the week of your pick up if you are coming to the farm to get your meat.
Please note: the price you see for this item in your cart is an estimate and not the final price. The price will be adjusted on your invoice based on the actual weight of the bird when we receive it back from the abattoir.
A deposit of $10 per bird is required to secure your order.
Lastly, enjoy feeding your family delicious, organic pasture raised chicken grown locally here in Ontario. Unlike our grass fed beef which cooks a bit differently than conventional beef, organic pastured chicken can be cooked the same in all your favourite recipes.
